The Cross at Croscombe – Access Statement
Introduction
The building dates back to the 14th century and has 5 bedrooms, public toilet, dining room, lounge and a courtyard garden.
Whilst renovated to include modern amenities the building retains many original features that add to its character, but which might make access difficult for people with limited mobility.
There is a ground floor ambulant public toilet, however there is a step down into the main building.
Only one bedroom is on the ground floor. Access to this involves steps and a walk through the courtyard garden. This ground floor room (Mells) does have a walking in shower.
All other rooms are accessed via a steep staircase consisting of 12 steps.
Assistance will be given with luggage.
Internally the building is totally non-smoking.
Only Guide and Hearing dogs are allowed – sorry.

The Cross at Croscombe is located between Shepton Mallet and Wells on the A371. It is situated approximately 20 miles from Bath, Bristol and Bristol International Airport.
By Car
For Sat Nav users the postcode is BA5 3QJ.
From M5 North – take M4, M32, A37, A39.
From M5 South – leave at Junction 23 and take A39.
From South East – take A303, A36, A361, A371.
Driving time from Bath and Bristol is approximately 40 minutes.
By Train
Castle Cary is the closest station but trains are not that frequent. The station is 13 miles away. There is no direct bus service to Wells.
Other regular train services to and from London (Paddington & Waterloo) and the West Country operate from Bristol Temple Meads & Bath Spa. Connecting bus services from Bristol & Bath to Wells are frequent.
By Bus
376 service takes around 1hour from Bristol.
173 service takes approximately 1hour 20mins from Bath.

Readily available at all locations they can bring you straight here.
Car parking
There are 3 car parking spaces located by the side of the The Cross. These are available on a first come first served basis. There is also ample street parking in the village.
Arrival
Rooms will be available from 4.00pm until 6.00pm. Should you wish to arrive earlier or later then please contact me to discuss arrangements.
Your key will give you access to your room and the front door. I recommend you always take it with you when going out.

The dining tables are of one height and chairs are moveable.
Special dietary requirements can be catered for if advised in advance.
Laundry
A laundry room is not available, however this service can be offered on request.

There is a public house just a few minutes walk from The Cross.

A booster box has been installed to improve reception. Free WiFi is available.
