Christmas events in Somerset 2025

There are lots of fantastic Christmas events taking place in Somerset in 2025. Many of the events listed below are in stunning venues and locations. These range from incredible gardens to underground caves. You can listen to Christmas carols in a beautiful cathedral or chug through the countryside on a Santa special steam train. CHRISTMAS EVENTS IN SOMERSET 2025 – Markets

Buy something beautiful at a fantastic Somerset Christmas market. Below are a few favourites.

Bath Christmas Market. This Christmas market takes place from 27 November – 14 December. Over 200 stallholders and festive entertainment.

Bishop’s Palace Artisan Christmas Market is on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 November, 10am-4pm. Adults – £8. Child (5-17) – £4

Bristol’s Christmas market runs from 7 November until 23 December. Festive stalls from 10am – 7pm. Food and bar from 10am-10pm.

Clarks Village Artisan Christmas Market takes place 28 November until Christmas Eve. Plenty of festive fun – you can even ice skate! The ice rink is open from 11 November 2025 until 4 January 2026.

Clevedon Christmas Market Saturday 29 November 2025. 10am – 3pm in St. Andrew’s Church Centre. Free parking!

Frome’s Independent Market is guaranteed to be a festive occasion on 7 December 2025. 10am – 3pm.

Glastonbury Abbey’s Medieval Christmas Market takes place 29-30 November 2025. 10am – 4pm in the Abbey. Free entry!

Mendip Christmas Fair takes place at the Aldwick Estate in Redhill, Bristol on 22 November (10am – 6pm) and 23 November 2025 (10am – 4pm).

The Root Connections Christmas Market is a 2 day event on 29 (4pm-8pm) & 30 November (10am-2pm). It’s located at St. John’s Church in Chilcompton.

Shepton Mallet Market includes a Christmas light switch on. The Christmas Special market takes place on 30 November 2025. 5 pm – 8pm. Lights are switched on at 7pm.

Taunton Christmas Craft Fair takes place on Fore Street in the town centre. The Taunton Winterfest is on Sunday 23 November 2025. 10am – 8pm. The Christmas lights are switched on at 6pm.

The Cheese & Grain Christmas Gift Market in Frome takes place on 7 December 2025.

Wells Christmas Market takes place on 6 December 2025. 9am until 3pm. Wells Market Place and the Bishop’s Palace Green host 100+ festive stalls selling a wide range of products.

Christmas events Somerset 2023

Wells Museum is holding a Christmas Craft Market on Saturday 6 December. 11am – 3pm. There’s free entry to the museum and a free Christmas decoration workshop.

Wincanton Christmas Fair is on 25 November 2025 10am – 3pm. Admission is £5 (in support of the Children’s Hospice South West.)

Yeovil Christmas Market at the Yeovil Showground. Gets underway at 6pm on Sunday 14 December.

Christmas at Cheddar Gorge

Go underground and find Santa’s elves making gifts in Gough’s Cave. Father Christmas will be visiting on selected dates from mid November until Christmas EveFind out more. Booking essential.

You can also ‘go below’ to experience a Winter Wonderland at Wookey Hole. Selected dates from 22 November to 24 December 2025.

Bishop’s Palace, Wells – Christmas Garden Illuminations

These very special gardens are illuminated on selected dates from early to late December. In 2025, see the lights on December 7,8,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,27,28,29 and 30. The illuminations are turned on at 4.30pm until 7.30pm. Last entry is at 7pm.

Visit Santa at Glastonbury Abbey on 29 and 30 November and 18 and 19 December 2025. Booking essential.

Light up the Lake in Clevedon. 6 December 2025. Festivities begin at 4pm. 

MORE CHRISTMAS EVENTS IN SOMERSET 2025

The Cross at Croscombe will be hosting a special festive supper on 12 December. View the menu. Booking essential!

Fancy singing some carols under concorde?! Well, you can at Fleet Air Arm Museum on 11 and 12 December. £20 a ticket.

How about some twilight tobogganing? 7 November 2025 until 4 January 2026 at Mendip Activity Centre.

Catch the Frost Fayre in Glastonbury 10am -6pm. This event takes place on the last Saturday in November. Peace and Goodwill to all. Over the same weekend there is usually free entry to the Glastonbury Abbey and the Medieval Christmas market held there. 

At Ice Volt in Radstock you can ice skate, meet Santa and grab a drink in an alpine bar. Open 7 days a week from 14 November 2025 – 4 January 2026.

All aboard the Santa Express – West Somerset RailwayRuns on selected dates 1 – 24 December. Climb aboard a festively decorated heritage carriage and take a journey through Somerset woodlands. Santa leaves presents and refreshments on the tables and he’ll be checking to ensure you have been good! Booking essential.

You can also see Santa at the Bath and West Showground. He’ll be onboard a steam train on the 6 and 13 December. Booking essential.

Carols by Candlelight in Wells Cathedral takes place on December 19, 20 & 21 from 7pm. Absolutely magical and very atmospheric. The Cathedral is lit with over 3,000 candles. Enjoy choral classics sung by Wells Cathedral Choir plus festive readings and poetry. Tickets sell quickly.

Shepton Mallet Lantern Parade is on 20 December 2025 at 5pm. Meet at the bandstand. Lantern workshops take place on various dates in November and December.

Dunster Castle is hosting a wide range of Christmas events from 17 November 2025 to 4 January 2026. Dunster is a beautiful medieval village and well worth a visit at any time of year.

The Festival of Lights at Longleat

Just over the border in Wiltshire (but only 16 miles from my B&B) lies Longleat House. In 2025, the theme is Wallace and Gromit and friends. 8 November 2025 until 11 January 2026.

Christmas at Stourhead 2025

A beautiful location at any time of year. This famous Wiltshire estate will be lit with illuminations from 28 November until 31 December 2025.

Christmas at Stourhead

The 1 mile trail takes around 90 minutes to walk and features giant baubles, glistening trees and illuminated tunnels. You may also spot Father Christmas! Trails need to be booked in advance.
