During the past 5 years, my ‘Suppers with Mary’ have been a regular fixture in the calendar. Mary Cadogan has taken us on culinary journeys to France, Italy, Morocco, Spain and Scandinavia (to name but a few!). Birthdays, anniversaries and the King’s coronation have all been celebrated here with local food lovingly prepared by Mary.

All good things must come to an end. Mary has now stepped away from my stove to take things a little easier. I am thrilled that Kate Hunter – another fantastic Croscombe culinary wizard – will now be cooking here.

Kate started her catering career with an apprenticeship at the 3 starred Michelin restaurant, Le Gavroche, under the tutorship of Albert Roux. Cheffing for luxury yachts and private resorts in the Caribbean, the Jockey Club in Saratoga, and European Villas followed.  Since settling in Somerset, Kate’s ongoing passion for the culinary arts has seen her skills much sought after for private lunches, dinners and weddings. Kate sources many of her organic ingredients from local markets, foraging and by growing her own vegetables.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTED THE Spanish supper ON 28 JUNE. NEW SUPPER DATES WILL BE ANNOUNCED SOON. the next is in september!

Guests are seated on tables of 4 or 8. Only 16 places are usually available at each supper. A booking for two will share a table with another couple. 

My bar is well-stocked with wine, spirits, beer and soft drinks. If you do wish to bring your own wine, please contact me as corkage will be charged.

A message from mary

After 5 years cooking pop-up dinners at The Cross, I am hanging up my apron. I am beyond delighted to let you all know that the marvellous Kate Hunter will be taking up the reins in my place. Kate is a wonderful cook and I’m sure she will make diners very happy with her delicious food. I will certainly be booking a table very soon – it will be great to be the other side of the kitchen.
